You opened your heart and let me in
It wasn't easy I know.
I touched your warmth and took you love
That you let so easily flow.
But your independant soul fought your lonely heart
A burden too heavy to bear.
Could you ever decide on a compromise
And feel you were being fair?
I don't want your wings, nor will I cage you
As your spirit is far too free.
Only ask that you share your wisdom of flight
So that I may also see.
In return I will comfort your deepest fears
And quench your thirst for love.
Together we'll share the strength of an eagle,
And the gentleness of a dove.
