The light that shines in the midst of chaos ~ Originally posted Jan. 5/06

A friend wrote me today to tell me how she had to stay home because she had a "huge plumbers mess" that caused leaking in her condo and her washer to overflow. Later on she wrote back to tell me that because of the chaos, she somehow got the air conditioning that had not been working, to work; the water dispenser in her refrigerator to work again and got the plumber to fix a few other things while he was there.

Another friend has decided to quit smoking, cold turkey. YIKES! If he makes it, the reward that shines from the determination to stick to his decision... healther, longer, life... will be well worth the chaos it causes him to work through his habit.

I met a client of mine for coffee this morning, (she also happens to be a good friend). She just lost her husband 5 months ago, it was unexpected. Neither of us had the courage until now, to get in touch with each other for the thought of discussing our situations was just too painful. But the moment we saw one another there was this great feeling of relief and we sat down and had a warm and wonderful conversation, sharing our experiences and knowledge learned thus far, leaving with the promise to be there for one another if the need arose.

There is always a light that shines in the midst of chaos, no matter how crazy you percieve that chaos to be.

And if you have any stories about how you have found your own light in the midst of chaos, I would love to hear from you. Sharing your optimism is always cathartic for the soul. Just email me at...
