Last night Nicholas and I watched the 4 hour program on Tommy Douglas.
Tommy Douglas was a Canadian politician and humanitarian who fought for the rights of the everyday man. In November of 2004, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) polled all Canadians for the top 10 Canadians. Tommy Douglas won number one.

It would seem politicians of this caliber come along only once in a lifetime, but when they do, they shake up the system, and change the perspective of a nation. His fight for Universal Medicare has surely saved hundreds and thousands of people. To say he was a saint would be an understatement. He was a man who stood by his principals and fought to his death for what he believed. A true example for us all.
Canadians are proud of their Universal Medicare and those of us who lived to experience Mr. Douglas's dedication to make it happen are it's most loyal advocates.
